On the other hand, companies that spend thousands on Radio and TV advertising tend to be the most expensive. They need to pass the cost of expensive adverts to the end user... not because their product is any better, it definitely isn’t. This type of operator tends to adopt a hire and fire policy with installers to cope with the peaks and troughs associated with targeted marketing. Consequently, they have little or no knowledge of an individual’s skill level. The majority of our fitters hold NVQ qualifications and have been with us for a number of years. In fact, my eldest son (Ian) is now a Managing Director, both my daughters (Amy & Samantha) work for the company full time, one doing stained glass and the other as senior sales administrator. The youngest family member (Joe) joined the business in July 2011 after his A Levels. For the next 2 years he is learning ‘Production & Fabrication’ from a grass roots position by being ‘hands-on’ in our factory - so we truly are a family business.

We always apply the latest technology and we constantly re-invest in new machinery to stay at the forefront of the industry. In 2009 we acquired additional manufacturing premises due to the growth of our business. So now we have new machinery, premises, software & hardware etc - but still, we only sell in the old fashioned way... by dealing honestly and honorably in the same way that we like to buy things ourselves...
