| Our
main door locking system is provided by YALE, a world leader in
lock manufacture. This multi-point hook lock is tested to the limits
and, coupled with all our different design ideas, creates an impressive
entrance with maximum security.
The diagram
(right) shows the main features of the Yale locking system. There
are 3 seperate Hook Locking Points (1) that are engaged in their
keeps by an upward motion of the handle, with the key throwing the
central deadbolt (2) which secures all of the bolts, including the
springbolt.
In normal operation,
the centre latch (3) can only be released by the use of the key.
After unlocking the deadbolt by the key, normal operation of the
handle will retract all 3 hooks, withdraw the latchbolt and release
the door.
The locking
system includes an anti-slam snib which prevents the bolts from
being thrown when the door is open and therefore protects the frame,
keep or bolts from possible damage
This lock is tested to the draft BRE S2 security resistance
door requirements and constructed to the BS 5872 B standard, tested
to 500,000 operations.
It meets
the Association of British Insurers recommended guidelines on home
safety.
