Many of the cheaper companies in our industry either go out of business or simply keep changing names, these companies are simply after a “quick turnover” and will probably have disappeared when service or warranty work is required. On the other hand, companies that spend thousands on radio and TV advertising tend to be the most expensive, simply because they need to pass the cost of such adverts on to the end user…not because their product is any better. These types of operators also tend to adopt of hire and fire policy with their installers, to cope with the peaks and troughs associated with targeted marketing.

Consequently, they have little or no knowledge of an individuals skill levels. The majority of our fitters have been with us for a number of years and are all qualified fitters holding NVQ qualifications and they know what is expected of them.

We have found our niche in the market and will be around for many years to come. After all, this is a family business and Sheffield Window Centre is our children’s future. In fact, my son Ian is now a Director of the company, and both of my daughters also work within the business, one doing stained glass and the other as a sales administrator so we truly are a family business.

We apply the latest technology and have just invested over £200,000 in new machinery. But still we only sell in the old fashioned way… by dealing honestly and honourably in the same way that we like to buy things ourselves.
